Fishing into the Future was established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in January 2015. This followed over two years of background work by our founding organisations, and our ground-breaking workshop in Brixham in 2013.
We are registered with the Charities Commission as UK Charity 1160123.
Our Constitution is simple, but has one key requirement that makes us a unique:
- Two-thirds (⅔) of our trustees must be active, or recently active, fishermen at any one time. This ensures that we remain grounded in the realities of the fishing industry.
Our organisational structure allows for an Executive Committee, who have been granted decision-making powers by the full Board of Trustees. The Executive Director works directly for the Executive Committee and Trustees, and is the main point of contact for the charity.
As we grow we wish to retain an agile and lean management structure to enable us to respond quickly to issues and changing landscapes within the industry at large.
Trustee meeting minutes are available upon request.
