The idea for Fishing into the Future was born out of the need to better harness the experience and ingenuity of fishermen in driving forward initiatives that support sustainable fishing practices.
Through the work of the Prince’s Charities
International Sustainability Unit, along
with Seafish and the Gulf of Maine Research
Institute, a series of meetings were held,
culminating in a large industry-focused workshop
in Brixham in 2013.
Thanks to the work and commitment from those involved in the post-workshop development process, “Fishing into the Future” was officially launched as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (C.I.O.) in January 2015, and the rest, as they say, is history.
